Imou reports the introduction of the highly anticipated video doorbell. The new member lives on as the DB60 and works completely wireless thanks to its built-in rechargeable battery and WiFi (2.4 GHz) chip. In addition to the doorbell, the DB60 kit includes the DS21 bell, multiple (right-angle) brackets, and 4GB of internal eMMC storage. To get the most out of the internal storage and battery, the ringer only turns on when motion is detected, manually activated in the Imou Life app, or when the doorbell button is pressed.

Imou demands razor-sharp images thanks to a 5mp lens with qhd+ resolution (2560 x 1920) whose H.265 image compression technique should ensure recordings and streams are of high quality and take up relatively little space. The wide fisheye lens allows you to see from head to toe everyone standing in your doorway, while interaction should be possible with the two-way talk function. In addition, the DB60 has a quick reply function that makes it possible to reply to visitors with pre-recorded and preset messages.

With its motion sensor, the DB60 should be able to alert you when you need it. While human detection can be enabled, you can set the detection areas to notify you only when motion is detected within a certain area of the screen.

As mentioned, the doorbell has 4GB of eMMC onboard storage, which according to Imou should be enough for a few weeks of recordings. You can also choose a cloud storage subscription that can provide you with security reports, enhanced notifications, AI detection and more, depending on the subscription selected.

A fully charged 6,200 mAh battery should last up to 180 days under normal conditions, based on a daily activation time of 5 minutes. The performance of the battery of course depends on how many times the camera is activated. For example, an exceptionally high frequency can be at the expense of the battery’s lifetime. The DB60 can also be connected directly to a DC12 adapter or an optional transformer for stable charging.

The DS21 ringer is included to ensure you can hear the ringer even when your smartphone is not at hand. The gong also acts as a Wi-Fi extender for the DB60 to optimize connectivity. You can choose different tones in the Life app.

The Imou DB60 kit will be available in early June for €159.
