‘s ambitious project Apple for the production of aself-driving electric car – Project Titan – has lost another important piece. To leaf through Christopher “CJ” Moorean automotive industry veteran who has now joined the ranks of Luminar Technologies.

Luminar Technologies is an Orlando-based company. It is about hardware and software for autonomous and assisted driving: from LiDAR sensors to computer vision technologies.

Christopher Moore had only joined Apple last August, but apparently in less than a year he’s seen enough to make the decision to properly serve the bitten apple and move elsewhere. Before joining Apple, Moore had been a program manager Tesla’s ‘Autopilot’ In short, he is one of the leading experts in semi-autonomous driving systems in the world.

Elon Musk had taunted Apple in the past, claiming it was “the company where those who can’t keep up with Tesla’s pace go to work”.

In the past two years, almost the entire management of Apple’s automotive division has been replaced. In early May, Ian fired Goodfellow from Apple to work for DeepMind, Google’s machine learning division. Around the same time, Apple hired a number of former Ford and Rivian executives.

Luminar has been listed on the stock exchange since 2020 and has since signed important cooperation agreements with Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and SAIC Motor Corp.
