From January 2023, all municipalities with a population of more than 50,000 residents will have low emission zones, and with it, the fence will be tightened for those vehicles that do not have an eco-label.
This is a measure to make our polluted cities much more resilient, and to ensure that users acquire less polluting vehicles over time. and there is already a city that has gone ahead of the rest with restrictions for those vehicles that do not have the aforementioned sticker.
And, as our Autobild colleagues tell us, from June 1st in Gijon, all cars entering the city of Asturias must have the DGT environmental label on the windshield, otherwise they can be fined 90 euros.
This economic fine will not be accompanied by immobilization or removal of the car by a municipal tow truck, but the opposition criticizes that this is a penalty measure.
So all cars that can have a DGT sticker, if they want to enter Gijón from now on, must have a sticker on their windshield. In particular, this means that it can be carried by all cars with a gasoline engine registered after 2000 and all cars with a gasoline engine registered after 2006.
This affects 71% of vehicles in Gijón and applies to all vehicles coming from other Autonomous Communities..
The measure affects a motorcycle fleet estimated at 23,000 units and the Post Office is already seeing a significant increase in requests for these stickers.
