The Madrid company Red de Gas (MRG) presented the first environmentally friendly hydrogen boiler which, in addition to heating, allows the production of hot water (DHW) using a clean and renewable energy source.
The boiler, which is currently only a prototype, was developed jointly with specialized companies in the industry, including Vaillant, Centralgas, Carburos Metalicos and Agremia, as well as runs entirely on hydrogen. It has a power rating of 25W and is very similar in size and design to conventional gas boilers. In fact, standard materials are used to install the boiler, meeting the requirements for fuel gas.
The difference, however, is that it is completely sustainable. When running on hydrogen During combustion, it releases only water vapor.which will allow the company to achieve its decarbonization goals.
Hydrogen is a clean and inexhaustible alternative to fossil fuels. It can be used, for example, to produce heating and hot water using a boiler similar to modern gas boilers. The main advantage of hydrogen is that when it is burned, it does not release pollutants into the atmosphere, but only water vapor, which is actively involved in decarbonization.
An environmentally friendly boiler that not only generates heat
The boiler, we repeat, in addition to heating, It can also generate domestic hot water.. That is, water intended for human consumption that is used for bathing, showering, or for cleaning purposes, such as washing the dishwasher, mopping floors, etc.
Currently Madrileña Red de Gas installed a prototype at its operations center in Alcorcónin a relaxation area where employees can enjoy heating generated by hydrogen.
