According to the news of the Chinese news site MyDrivers, panel manufacturer AUO is working on a tn panel with a 540 Hz refresh rate. The panel will be used in gaming monitors for esports.

AUO already had a 500 Hz panel using its own E-TN technology (where ‘E’ stands for ‘Esports’). Presumably this new panel is an overclocked version of it.

Last month, a gaming monitor with a 500 Hz panel from AUO was announced. It is a 24.1″ Asus ROG Swift monitor with 1080p resolution. Nvidia is of course collaborating on the monitor for G-Sync as well as Nvidia’s new Reflex Analyzer, which can measure input lag.

It is still unknown when we will find the panel on a monitor. The cost of such a monitor will probably be slightly over budget for most of us. And then of course the question is whether we ‘normal gamers’ will really see a difference between 240 (or maybe even 144) and 540 Hz.
