The PlayStation 5 may be pretty powerful, but it’s also pretty big. Before Sony had a chance to do anything about it, DIY Perks YouTuber Matthew Perks made his own PlayStation 5 Slim. It might be cheating a bit with external water cooling and an external power supply, but it can still take credit for the world’s first under 2 centimeter PS5 Slim in our opinion!

The process wasn’t easy to say the least as the perks had to literally make its own water block to cool the entire motherboard, ram and soc with water. For this, he made a sealed water block that connects to specific points on the motherboard via heat pipes. Parts like the water pump, power connector, and power supply are so high that these parts are machined into a massive (soundbar-like) structure. And here is where it went wrong.

In the end, it turned out that the first test was the final test for the console. tradition the water cooler fell so no air could get in. The first PlayStation 5 Slim overheated and broke down permanently. So he smashed another PS5 and used that motherboard to repair his console, this time with a securely mounted water cooler. Only then could accurate measurements be made, and Perks conclude that its tiny PS5 is much cooler than the original console:
