AMD introduced the Ryzen Embedded R2000 processors. These second generation midrange SOCs are for a wide range of applications such as industry and robotics as well as machine vision, IoT and small computers.

The R2000 series has up to four Zen+ cores, doubling the two Zen cores of the R1000 series. In addition to 2MB L2 cache and 4MB L3 cache, the top model, the R2544, can handle DDR4 memory at up to 3,200 MT/s – a third more than its predecessor. The integrated Radeon GPU (Vega) has up to eight processing units and can drive up to four 4k displays.

The four R2000 SKUs have an adjustable TDP ranging from 12-25 W (R2312) to 35-54 W (R2544). Other features include 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes, two SATA 3.0 and six USB ports. In terms of supported operating systems, AMD mentions Windows 10/11 and Linux Ubuntu LTS. The manufacturer plans to keep this line of products available for up to 10 years, which will allow a long service life.

Systems with the R2544 and R2514 are expected to launch in October, while the two lower-end chips have yet to receive a release date.
