Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued a food alert for Tugas brand alfalfa sprouts. The reason this product was withdrawn from supermarkets and consumers were warned is because of the presence of bacteria of the genus Salmonella.

They were discovered during routine quality control carried out in Rioja. It was the authorities of the said Autonomous Community who brought this to the attention of AESAN, which quickly sent food anxiety.

This is not the first warning about the presence of salmonella in sprouted sprouts that AESAN has issued in recent days.
