In recent days, numerous fires have broken out in Los Angeles County, United States, creating apocalyptic scenarios in one of the most famous cities in the world. In addition to impressive photographs of fire-consuming parts of the area, satellite images also provide a clearer picture of the extent of the problem.
Of the thousands of residents living in the county, approximately 180,000 people have already been evacuated from their homes. Destruction took over the streets and the fire began destroying homes, businesses and various buildings in its path, including fears that the famous Hollywood sign could also burn down.
At least five fires are currently burning in Pasalides, Calabasas, Eaton Creek and Altadena counties. The locations are known for hosting rich and famous neighborhoods such as Will Smith, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Drake and John Travolta. Actors such as Ben Affleck, Adam Brody and Jamie Lee Curtis lost their homes due to the tragedy.

historical tragedy
The first fire started on Tuesday (07) and became the most destructive fire in Los Angeles history. Authorities attempted to contain the flames but were unsuccessful due to the scale of the tragedy and the unpreparedness of municipal water systems for fires of this size.

According to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, the reasons that made the disaster so big are related to the strong winds that pushed the fire and the intense drought. “Some officials understand that this is one of the greatest natural disasters in the history of Los Angeles,” the politician said at a press conference.

Because fire season in California typically occurs in the middle of the year, the scale of the problem caught many Americans off guard. However, strong Santa Ana winds with a drier character spread the first fire outbreaks to areas with more vegetation and even entered the urban area.
