In a study by a university in Sofia, Bulgaria, evidence was found that stability of the solar system over the next 100 millennia. This also applies to the eight planets and Pluto. The scientists’ calculations establish that the orbits will not undergo variations until then.

Such studies were conducted for the calculation of the future of the solar system. A specialized calculation for modeling the motions of the planets over a period of time spanning millions or billions of years. The Bulgarian survey is accurate because it takes into account important factors. From initial deviations to orbital eccentricities to the inclinations of the planets, including the masses of all bodies in the solar system.

If there are multiple bodies in a dynamic system, it is more difficult to predict their behavior. Two bodies stuck together track, are easy to predict in mathematical calculations. If you add more bodies, it gets difficult. An issue called N-body that causes chaos in the system. Indeed, bodies are beginning to interfere with each other’s orbits in the solar system. Thus, there is no precise formula describing all interactions of N bodies.

The Bulgarian study found an accurate and commendable mathematical method. It translates the orbital elements of the planets of the solar system into 54 ordinary differential equations of the first order. Based on the researchers’ words, the calculations suggest that:

at least the configuration of the oscillating ellipses on which the planets move around the sun will remain stable 100,000 years in that the semimajor axis of each planet varies within or less than one percent.

In practice, even with changes in masses or initial conditions, the solar system has remained stable. This stability can last for up to a million or a billion years. It will take 100 billion years for the solar system to explode and spread throughout the Milky Way.
