Glyph interface, a breath of fresh air with a design that combines avant-garde and utility

One of the most striking elements that could be guessed from the photos that the brand has been responsible for revealing in recent days is the peculiar None Phone Back Design (1).

This design is characterized by a series of luminous lines highlighting the back panel elements such as the camera, wireless charging coil or charging system. The Nothing Phone (1) maintains the same design language we saw in the Nothing Ear (1) analysis, offering only two finishes: black and white with a transparent back.

The lines of light passing through various parts of the back of the body consist of a series white LED lights that glow differently which serve as a notification indicator, a call indicator when it’s off, and even as a fill flash or battery level indicator. All this is configured from the operating system.

It’s not a bulky mobile phone, and with some dimensions 159.2 x 75.8 mm and 8.3 mm thick. The Nothing phone (1) is made from 100% recycled aluminium,it’s 193 grams. In the hand, it is comfortable to use, despite the straight edges with rounded corners, very reminiscent of Apple mobile phones.

BUT Corning Gorilla Glass It protects both the front and back, which hides no secrets, exposing items such as the wireless charging telecoil, battery cable, or camera base.

Phone screen Nothing (1) consists of 6.55″ flexible OLED panel Full HD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) with 60Hz and 120Hz variable refresh rates and support for HDR10+ content coverage 1200 nits of peak brightness.

This is a really beautiful screen.leaving a very well used facade with symmetrical frames around the perimeter.

The feeling that leaves use Nothing Phone (1) it is balanced by being a screen that offers very good results and color calibration. As usual, in a full analysis that we will publish in a few days, we will be able to offer you all the brightness data and image quality settings.

Mid-range hardware tuned to work like a Swiss watch

Used to seeing brands like Realme or OnePlus putting high-end processors in their mid-range phones, it’s shocking how Premium mid-range mobile phone how this Nothing Phone (1) bets on the average… processor. Crazy!

However, the devil is in the details, and inside Nothing Phone (1) we don’t find any processor. This is about Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ 5Gan improved and optimized version of the Snapdragon 778 with 6nm lithography that offers watch improvements Adreno 642L GPU to improve results when launching games.

Thanks to this, the entire graphic part of the games develops without much inconvenience, showing a very good performance even with very demanding games. I was with Nothing Phone for a little over a day (1) as a personal smartphone, and is already demonstrating ways to be a tough nut to crack by offering perfect behavior under heavy loads.

Nothing debuts on the telephony market with three different versions with different hardware configurations: 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage memory, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage and the most complete model that goes up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.

The battery is adjusted to hold the line, but its fast charging leaves it at a disadvantage.

One of the things that surprised me the most about a smartphone that has proven to be unafraid of innovation is the very conservative stance it takes on battery life.

it 4500 mAh lithium-ion battery with USB Power Delivery 3.0 charging, allowing you to use your smartphone for more than a day. In fact, I’ve been using it for almost a day and a half and it tells me that I still have a couple hours of use.

Waiting for the relevant measurements to know the autonomy for a complete analysis, we were surprised that Nothing Phone (1) only supports 33W fast charging, and all this not including the charger in the box.

With this solution, Nothing eliminates itself from the fast charging race by offering charging power well below the 65W, 80W, 120W and even 150W charging power offered by its main mid-range competitors.

What he proposes is full support for 15W Qi wireless charging as well as feedback wireless 5W for charging branded headphones or any other devices.

Back to the essence of photography: quality is better than quantity

In the photograph, Nothing Phone (1) has a very clear positioning and is exactly the same as what I myself suggested a few days ago in our mailing list. Sometimes less is more.

In this section, the brand has chosen a couple of old acquaintances such as sensors behind phone cameras Nothing (1).

To control the image from the main camera, we have relied on Sony IMX 766 50 MP which is equipped dual optical and electronic stabilization and one f/1.88 aperture.

We have reiterated several times that this is one of our favorite sensors due to its good low light performance and the excellent photographic quality it has shown when analyzing mobile phones such as the realme 9 Pro+. It’s undoubtedly a safe bet in photography, though. need to wait for a full analysis to draw clear conclusions.

next to it black leg photos we find a slightly more inconspicuous, but no less functional sensor, such as Samsung JN1 50MP With f/2.2 aperture which is responsible for covering the focus of the ultra-wide angle with 114º field of view and allowing the 4 cm macro focus to take photos with better quality than regular 2 or 5 megapixel macros.

On the front, we have a selfie camera inserted into the corner of the screen, controlled by a sensor. Sony IMX 471 16MP and f/2.45 opening which promises good results in a portrait. We invite you again for a full analysis, which we will publish in a few days.

NothingOS: no malware, no ballast. all efficiency

In addition to design, one of the main No statements by phone (1) It was the promise of an operating system based on the principles of ease of use, absolute fluidity and a perfect symbiosis between hardware and software.

Beyond the metaphysics of the manufacturer’s intentions, it comes to mind an operating system that immediately transports us to the better days of OxygenOSwith immediate work and useful input for the user.

The brand ensures that it works with third parties to use your smartphone as an open control platform for other devices. To start, NothingOS compatible with Tesla and allows you to perform basic functions directly from your mobile phone when connected to the brand’s car, allowing you to open and close doors, check autonomy and other functions.

After several months of tossing back and forth, Nichtophone (1) finally puts his cards on the table and, although it is true that he does not have all the aces in his hand, has enough reason to be one of the biggest bestsellers of the second half of 2022.
