We can say that Windows 11 does not have the impact that users were looking for in order to move from their version of Windows 10 to 11.
After it release in October 2021, its impact and the percentage of users that migrate to this new version is not up to expectations. And this is what we are facing with a new operating system that is still somewhat unknown and restrictive.
On our site, you can find many articles on the pros and cons of Windows 11. If your PC meets the minimum requirements for the new version, you have the option to upgrade to Windows 11 right now, even if the prompt didn’t appear on Windows Update.
Well, under the new strategy, Microsoft is looking to adopt a strategy Ahead of 2024, we will already have a new update, 12. This is because the company aims to release new versions of Windows every three years, and feature updates for the most recent version will be released every year.
With this in mind and according to the WindowsCentral report, in 2025 we could see Windows 10 disappear, and in 2024 Windows 11 may stop receiving new updates. Using the same approach, Windows 13 should arrive in 2027 and so on.
This calendar, of course it’s similar to what Microsoft used in the days of Windows 7. A new version of Windows will come out every three years with feature updates to sit in between.
While many questions remain to be resolved, such as whether Microsoft will offer free upgrades from one version of Windows to another, one thing seems clear: these new versions with such periodicity make more sense.
If devices start receiving Windows 12 in 2024, then wide availability should be achieved in 2025, when Windows 10 is thought to be gone.
With all this in mind, it goes without saying that the company is unable to confirm or deny any news on the matter at this point. However, at first glance, the calendar seems to be very successful.
