The folks at Tesla are having a problem with their autopilot as they have a level 3 autonomous driving system in beta in the United States that promises to drive our car almost alone. Unfortunately, there are dozens of accidents.
So much so that the responsible American administration has launched an investigation into this matter. They believe that Tesla withheld information and put customers at risk. Let’s not forget that in just one year, several drivers died.
But today we will talk about another brand, namely Arcfox. the electric vehicle company of the Beijing Automotive Group, a Chinese state-owned automaker.
The company is the sixth largest car manufacturer in the country, it was founded in 1958 and, in addition to cars of its own brands such as Beijing, BAW, Changhe, Foton, Ruili Doda and Arcfox, produces cars through joint ventures: Beijing-Benz and Beijing – Hyundai.
Arcfox Alpha-S is the brand’s first all-electric vehicle.. The car is positioned as the world’s first electric car with an intelligent interior based on the Huawei HarmonyOS operating system.
Autonomous driving system Arcfox Alpha-S has 400 TOP of computing power, the car has 3 LiDAR sensors, it has six mmW and radars and 12 ultrasonic. The camera department has 9 ADS units and 4 all-round cameras.
Huawei’s autonomous driving system seems to be very advanced, and the engineers claim it outperforms Tesla’s autopilot, which would be great news.
The Arcfox Alpha-S has been on sale since January, but only a small number of cars have been built., almost as if it were a test. Now, with full-scale production, unfinished deliveries can begin.
The cost of the car starts from 59,000 euros. and for that price, customers only get autonomous driving on the highway. The cost of a fully functional version starts from 62,500 euros.
Arcfox Alpha-S is not far behind: maximum power is 643 hp and the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds thanks to a torque of 655 Nm. The 800V battery charge can reach 187kW, allowing you to charge your car from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes.
Declared autonomy up to 708 km, but without knowing the capacity of the battery it is difficult to assess whether the numbers are real. Another interesting fact is that the car has a lifetime warranty and unlimited mileage.
