Confirmation comes in: to use Android Auto now you should at least have Android 8.0aka Oreo. This change required at least Android 6.0, a much more popular system, at least on older devices.

The change, cunningly passed on, seems to have come into effect recently, as there was still wording about Android 6.0 back in May. Now it seems to have changed, at least on the support page: we speak of course for using Android Auto with cable (Remember, otherwise, to use Android Auto wirelessly, you need at least Android 11.0, a Google or Samsung phone running Android 10.0, or a Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, or Note 8 phone running Android 9.0).

While the change may affect the usage of some users, it must be said that Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) is now used by 4% of Android deviceswhile Android 8.0 (Oreo) triples at 12%.

We remember that Android Auto is an operating system that works by connecting your device to the car so that you can have the most important smartphone applications on the display. Here it is therefore possible to listen to music, play (and answer) incoming messages vocally, see calls or use the navigation system. More features are on the way with future updates.
