This happens in all offices and in all homes: there will always be someone who is either too cold or too hot.

If you turn on the heating or air conditioning, someone will end up complaining. You cannot please everyone.

Studio Elk design studio offers an individual solution: Stratum, a table mat that warms or cools your hands as needed.. This is a much cheaper solution than turning on the heating or air conditioning in the room.

It works on the principle space alyesthesiajust like how you feel more comfortable putting your hands in a warm cup on a cold day or running your wrists in cold water when you get too hot.

In other words, simply by warming or cooling the wrists, we spread this sensation throughout the body.

Having determined the application of heating and cooling, laminate can make users feel good in a wide range of office temperatures, using part of the energy and without affecting others.

Stratum is designed so that users do not spend all day adjusting the temperature of the air conditioner. The table mat self-regulates to maintain the user’s desired temperature, and it only takes a few seconds to switch between pre-set heating, cooling and neutral modes.

Also it is completely portable. When you don’t need it or don’t want to use it elsewhere, just roll it up to fit comfortably in a backpack or small space.

We think it’s an interesting idea, but unfortunately the concept was created a long time ago and it looks like they couldn’t sell the idea to the manufacturer because we didn’t see it in stores.

90% of concepts are created by design studios, they never leave the paper or computer screen. Shame…
