Solid state drives are an important part of any desktop or laptop computer, so the companies that make them innovate from time to time. Over the past months we have had several important releases, and now Samsung had to introduce its new SSD, designed to compete with the highest-end devices..
The Samsung 990 Pro is a high-speed offering from the South Korean company aimed at the most demanding users. We’ll take a closer look at its specs and above all the price at which it will be released to the market, since these memory blocks usually don’t have a price tag that is affordable for all pockets.
Samsung has commented that there will be three versions of this new SSD and the difference between them will be storage. being the base 1 TB model and the most advanced 4 TB model; although there will be an intermediate model for 2 TB. The interface will be NVMe 2.0 PCIe Gen 4.0 x4, making it one of the most advanced on the market.

At the format level, the design matches the M.2 SSD, so it’s compact and fairly small. The theoretical maximum read speed is up to 7450MB/s and the theoretical maximum write speed is up to 6900MB/s. with a cache that differs depending on the model.
The 1TB model has 1TB of cache, so this parity is repeated in the other two models. The total recording volume also depends on the selected model, 600 TB in the 1 TB model, up to 1200 TB in the 2 TB model and finally up to 2400 TB in the 4 TB model.
In terms of encryption, Samsung has integrated 256-bit encryption. On the energy efficiency level, Samsung commented on a 50% improvement over its predecessor.. Temperature management has also been improved with nickel plating and the inclusion of a heat dissipation element.
Samsung has announced pricing for these new SSDs, which will go on sale next year. The 1 TB model will cost 211.99 euros, the 2 TB model will cost 387.99 euros. and the latest 4TB model has a price that has yet to be announced on the market.
