The video titled “Artemis I: We’re Ready” explains why we’re returning to the moon. and, with good use of special effects, shows how Artemis I’s carefully planned mission is expected to unfold.
NASA’s Artemis program focuses on a new era of space exploration designed to bring humans back to the Moon and send them to Mars and possibly beyond.
The uncrewed Artemis I mission lifts off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Monday, August 29. and it will be the first flight of NASA’s next-generation Space Launch System (SLS) rocket — its most powerful launch vehicle to date — and the new Orion spacecraft.
Orion’s journey will last six weeks and will consist of a flyby of the Moon, which will bring him to a distance of only 100 km from the lunar surface. Orion will then return to Earth and sink off the coast of California.
The success of the Artemis I mission will pave the way for Artemis II to follow the same path, but with astronauts on board. Artemis III will then attempt to send the first woman and the first person of color to the lunar surface in a mission that could take place as early as 2025.
With 4 million kg of thrust, it launches a 98-meter SLS rocket into the skyMonday’s launch will be spectacular and the entire event will be live streamed by NASA.
We are about to take the first step that will take us to conquer the stars in the coming decades. While there have been major missions before, Artemis is one that aims to prove that we can live there and navigate through space as we once did in the seas.
