A few weeks ago, we brought a report from the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) to the magazine showing which car brands are the most reliable when it comes to not suffering from breakdowns. That is, those who step on the workshop the least.
This point is vital when buying a car, as it will save you thousands of euros over the years of using the car (especially after the first 10 when they start to age quickly).
But we must not forget the variant of this paragraph: which ones are the cheapest to maintain. In other words, what are the cheapest brands when you inevitably have to go to the workshop to fix a problem, breakage or breakdown. These questions are always answered by the OCU.
The OCU explains that they also consulted with respondents in the original study about how much these visits to the official workshop are usually spent, and the differences between all brands of cars are significant.
Compared to the cost of 114 to 150 euros per year for Hyundai, Dacia and Renault, users of Mercedes Benz, Audi or Volvo spend more than 300 euros per year.
As you can see from the attached graph, the cheapest car brand to maintain is Hyundai, with a workshop repair cost of 114 euros per year.. In second place is Dacia with 120 euros per year, while Renault remains in third place with around 150 euros.
Nissan, Seat, Skoda and Toyota shared 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th places with a total cost of 180 euros. per year for repairs in the workshop. Assigned positions in the table follow in alphabetical order between these labels.
As for the most expensive: in the first place we have Mercedes-Benz with €350 per year; also a German Audi with another 350 euros; and Swedish Volvo from 333 euros. If you are on a budget, then you should stay away from these premium brands.
