reddit will invest $1 million in its communities’ best projects. The initiative is called Community funds, a call to all users and communities of the site. “We will be inviting communities to submit their ideas for projects, events, contests, giveaways and just about anything else they can think of that will bring people together, inspire and delight users,” the announcement reads. by Reddit.

Each project can apply for funding between $1,000 and $50,000. The first loans will start in June.

Reddit invests heavily in improving the most active communities. For example, the site recently bought two billboards to show the world the winners of an art competition hosted by the subreddit’BTS

All that’s left is to wait until June to find out which projects will get Reddit support. Given the cosmopolitan and rather diverse nature of Reddit communities, we expect more than a few wacky initiatives.
