Apple has updated its guidelines App Storesetting the rules for applications that work within the NFT. The Cupertino-based company is proving rather lenient with crypto assets: developers can publish apps related to NFTs, as long as they respect certain principles.

Principles that have more to do with compliance with the ban on the use of alternative payment methods than the official ones from Apple. “The app cannot use their own mechanisms to unlock content and features, such as license keys, augmented reality features, cryptocurrencieswallet for cryptocurrencies, etc.”.

The guidelines then continue as follows: “Applications can still use in-app purchases to sell NFT related services such as minting, ad serving and transfer of NFTs. Apps can also allow users to view NFTs they own, as long as the respective NFTs don’t grant access to features within the app (which could be a trick to get around Apple’s payment rules, etc.). The apps also allow users to view NFTs owned by other users, as long as the app does not contain buttons or external links that invite the user to make purchases outside of the app”.

As for cryptocurrencies, Section 3.1.5(iii) of the policy states that apps “may facilitate transactions or transfer of cryptocurrencies through Apple-approved exchanges, provided that they do so within countries or regions where they are properly licensed to operate.” “.
