Twitter it faced the first turmoil after its purchase by Elon Musk. The founder of Tesla is the new owner of the social network, the operation will cost $44 billion.

A Twitter spokesperson said the social network has had to close more than 1,500 accounts in the past few days in an attempt to nip a trolling campaign in the bud. The social was bombarded by sexist, racist and homophobic comments — perhaps in an attempt to harm the new Twitter owner.

According to Yoel Roth, the company’s security officer, the 1,500 accounts were created and used to launch a targeted and coordinated attack on Elon Musk and Twitter. In this case, the accounts had littered social media with racist comments in an attempt to give the impression that the Elon Musk takeover violated the policy of moderation and Twitter security.

“We have reduced the visibility of the content published by the accounts to zero, it is essential that the tweets are not seen or read by anyone,” explains the manager. “I want to be clear: these 1,500 accounts do not correspond to 1,500 real people,” he added, claiming that Twitter has evidence that the accounts were controlled by a small group of people.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk has explained in clearer terms how he plans to change Twitter Blue, the paid subscription that offers access to some exclusive benefits. If you’re subscribed to Twitter Blue – explains the billionaire – you can verify your account and receive the coveted blue check. It is not the only novelty and will also increase in price, among other things. We’ve talked about it extensively here.
