L’Nature classroom van de Wwf is the firstborn in Gubbio, in Umbria, at Carbonesca primary school. The intention is to promote and improve green spaces in schools, aimed at the education of the new generations for the respect of thesurroundings. The project is supported by Procter & Gamble as part of the ‘P&G for Italy’ corporate social responsibility program. The classroom is placed in the urban gardens in front of the school. The classroom is made of hedges, flower borders, vegetable boxes, insect cages and a pond. The green area is 80 square meters with different mini habitats to observe different living creatures and the relationship we have with them.

To choose the classroom, the WWF followed intended criteria recovery from green areas outdoors that were degraded and isolated. To date, 22 Natura Classrooms have been created in Italy, in relation to 4,500 m2 of redeveloped school gardens. There are 11,000 children who can use them.

We are delighted to give the students of Carbonesca Primary School a Nature Room, a precious green space that engages the new generations in a fundamental theme such as environmental education and the protection of biodiversity, which we believe is crucial for true sustainable development.

By taking classes in open spaces, you can improve the quality of learning by overcoming the so-called deficiency of nature that brings inattention, lethargy, boredom and sedentary lifestyle.
