On January 13, Tesla announced a notable price cut for all available versions of the Model 3 and Model Y, listing the cheapest model for €46,200 from the previous €51,900 and offering an even more notable price cut. The high-performance version of the Model Y, the most expensive of the six models reviewed, has dropped from €70,000 to €59,990.
However, these discounts are only a small part of what the buyer can save by buying an electric car from the manufacturer. Tesla actually seems to have done masterstroke, thanks to which one of these models can cost up to 19,590 euros cheaper in Spain than it cost a few days ago.
This major step was made possible in part by the Spanish government’s MOVES plan, which consists of a series of grants for the purchase of plug-in cars. In the case of those all-electric ones that do not exceed 45,000 euros (excluding VAT), the discount can be up to EUR 7,000 if the vehicle is scrapped, or up to EUR 4,500 without recycling.
Until a few days ago, only rear-wheel drive Tesla Model Y and Model 3 (basic versions) could use the MOVES plan. The Great Autonomy versions were excluded when they exceeded the €45,000 barrier after VAT.
However, this has changed since the discount applied by Tesla last week. Thanks to him, the Model Y with Great Autonomy cost 53,400 euros (42,186 euros without VAT), while the equivalent Model 3 fell in price to 52,400 euros (41,396 euros without VAT). So now yes, both cars can use the MOVES plan and get an additional discount of up to 7,000 euros.
