The as-yet-unannounced Sony WH-1000XM5 would not have 40 hours of improved battery life, according to the online product bundle. Earlier rumors had indicated that the headset should last 33 percent longer on a fully charged battery, but Sony would promise the same 30 hours of battery life for the sequel to the popular WH-1000XM4. Meanwhile, Sony’s official website has a teaser image of a headset dated May 12 (Thursday 6pm CET).
There is nothing clear on the packaging about active noise cancellation, which is claimed to be advanced. The new headset will be equipped with improved processors and microphones to more effectively filter out ambient noise.
Also, the packaging shows that the Sony WH-1000XM5 will get a refreshed look. Sony has made the somewhat bulky headband a little thinner. The hinge point is also no longer spread over the entire earpiece, but the headband is attached to the shell at one point. The move to the third-generation WH-1000XM headset was criticized in 2020, as visually nothing seems to have changed.
usually knowledgeable leaky Jon Prosser reports in a comment It was almost confirmed by Sony in the product packaging that appeared online that Sony will announce the WH-1000XM5 on May 12. Headphones would be a little more expensive; $400 compared to $350 for the 4 Series. In the Netherlands, its predecessor was released for around 380 euros, which is estimated to bring the price of the sequel to around 420 euros.
