The launch of the expected Nothing Phone (1) keeps coming closer. Expected because it is the first smartphone from the new company of Carl Pei, who was already co-founder of OnePlus. Also expected because Nothing has warmed up the engines with a series of extremely ambitious promises, which, however, can be at least partially ignored (the technical data sheet released in recent days leaves a bit of a bitter taste in the mouth).
With the launch of its first product – the tws Ear headphones (1) – nothing had already shown that it can play very well with the hype machine. We’ll see if the Pei brand can replicate the excellent results even with its first smartphone.
Something small begins to move. It appears that Nothing is making major commercial agreements to support the launch of the smartphone and reach the largest number of consumers. For example, the company has already signed some agreements with major European mobile operators – who could offer the smartphone with part of their subscriptions. The list of reached operators includes: O2british behemoth, Telekom Deutschland and the indian flip card And then there are also marketplaces like Amazon at stake.
The Nothing Phone (1) will be unveiled this summer, in June. The beta of the Nothing OS launcher, the proprietary interface that will differentiate the user experience on the smartphone, is already available for the downalod and now supports all smartphones with at least Android 11.
Apparently, the Nothing Phone (1) will have a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. The SoC is expected to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. We then find a 4,500 mAh battery with support for wireless charging. We don’t know the technology and charging speed.
