AMD’s May 2022 Preview driver has already been tested by several people shortly after its release. According to the manufacturer, this is mainly designed for DirectX 11 optimizations on RX 6000 series GPUs. Performance gains of up to 8 percent can be achieved. In Death Stranding and Watch Dogs: Legion games, Smart Access Memory should also provide better performance on the new RX 6050 XT cards.

Tester CapFrameX(one2nd3) shares on Twitter some results that show greater improvements than AMD promised. Frame rates in Crysis Remastered increased by 24 percent, and the average frame rate in low percentiles in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey increased to 34 percent. The biggest profit was made on 1.to Percentile in God of War, up 41 percent.

Where AMD lists only the RX 5000 and 6000 as supported generations, the driver seems to offer benefits for older cards as well. JirayD He scored a 15 percent gain in Overwatch with the RX 480.

In addition to these performance improvements, the new driver also adds a slider that lets you manually adjust the sharpening effect of Radeon Super Resolution.
