Samsung plans to increase the prices of its chips by 20 percent. The price increase also applies to products the company produces for other companies. This ultimately leads consumers to pay more for new devices.
As Bloomberg reports, the price increase comes in response to the fact that almost everything in the world is getting more expensive, including the cost of raw materials and the logistics surrounding production processes. The final price hike is expected to depend on the complexity of the components manufactured, but this still means suppliers will pay 15-20% more for the chips.
Samsung is a major player in the semiconductor industry. The company manufactures processors for a wide variety of industries, in addition to components for manufacturing chips for memory products and other semiconductor products. A 20 percent price increase in all these industries will inevitably increase the prices of almost all Samsung products that use Samsung components.
