Samsung asks for $3,000 million to produce OLED displays for Apple
Samsung is a big customer like Apple and is preparing to face new OLED panels that will be used by the devices of the future.
Samsung will have a lot more work to do, and Apple may be its top customer, due to the production of a new OLED for new iPads and MacBooks. Moreover, South Korea received a good investment from its country. $3 billion was raised to cover production capacity. With these moves, excellent quality panels are expected that exceed the expectations of Cupertino and its customers.
Samsung and Apple will continue to be linked in OLED commercial deals for new products
Earlier we talked about the production of a new MacBook Air with OLED at iPadizate. All things seem to indicate that a large part of Apple’s catalog between iPad and Mac will change to this type of panel.. Those from Cupertino have started the long road of devices with traditional backlit IPS LCD panels, these can be easily found in older devices. For example, it can be compared to an iPhone 4 or 5 or MacBook prior to 2012.
This is what the 2012 MacBook Pro looked like
Later, Apple relied on the miniLED backlight, which is now part of the iPad Pro and more recently the MacBook Pro. Times are changing and now they want the best on the market i.e. OLED. Approval was given at the beginning of January, and information indicates that this will be a more advanced technology than traditional OLED.
The operation will be disbanded as Samsung will be the main supplier and LG will own a smaller amount.
Samsung ready to invest in manufacturing facility
According to Reuters, Samsung will invest about $3.14 billion in Asan, South Korea. The goal is to produce advanced display panels (OLED) for tablets and computers.. They previously announced a long-term development plan that would cover 20 years of work for $230 billion.
Samsung is the leading manufacturer of OLED panels
The government will support financially with additional exemptions. The strange thing is that Asan’s investment was announced by the South Korean government itself. On the Apple side, this is expected iPad Pro is the first product to feature new OLED panels for the first half of next year.
Macs will then start with the MacBook Pro and end with the MacBook Air. That’s what we mentioned at the beginning of this article. OLED has gone from less to more at Apple. Let’s remember that the first device to use it was the Apple Watch. Then it happened with the iPhone X, right after the iPhone 12 all but the iPhone SE have an OLED panel.
iPhone X debuts OLED technology on its screen
When these new products are released, it needs to be confirmed, that the OLED panel it carries is superior to its competitors.. Comparisons will have a new starting point with the display. Will Apple be able to have the best display in a smartphone? On a laptop? It remains to be seen if Samsung also saves anything of its own for its exclusive use, especially on its high-end S Series devices.
