As we reported to you last April, with the new LinkBuds S ANC headphones, Sony has abandoned the ring design of the previously released LinkBuds and reverted to a fairly traditional design. The company says the new S version (WF-LS900) is smaller and lighter than comparable models.

As mentioned, the earbuds offer active noise reduction, support Hi-Res Audio Wireless, weigh just 4.8 grams each and are equipped with a battery that can do its job for up to 20 hours. The headphones can last up to six hours on a single charge, although it’s unclear whether this value is also reached when ANC is enabled. The small headphones are also equipped with a five millimeter diameter driver, which, according to the manufacturer, should guarantee powerful bass and clear sound reproduction.

The LinkBuds S is also IPX4 certified, so it must be splash and sweat resistant to be used in the rain or during sports. Connection to the host device is via Bluetooth 5.2 and includes Adaptive Sound Control that automatically adjusts the screen. Integrated microphones are also used for the Talk to Chat function, so music playback automatically stops when you start a conversation.

The Sony LinkBuds S is expected to be available soon for 199 euros and will be available later in black, white and beige colours.
