SpaceX delays the launch of Starship, considered the most powerful rocket in history – until now. The first trial was scheduled for 150 minutes this Monday (17) but shortly before launch, Elon Musk confirmed the cancellation.

The flight was supposed to take an unmanned rocket to conduct the tests, but a valve seemed frozen, so the company’s team decided to postpone the mission – the launch was canceled about ten minutes before the countdown began. There are no estimates for a new flight for now, but SpaceX should announce a new date later this week.

Elon Musk’s company announced live that the flight was canceled due to a frozen rocket booster, according to the Reuters agency. Last Sunday (16), Musk commented that the mission will likely be cancelled.

Elon Musk said, “This is the first launch of a very complex and huge rocket, so it may not launch. We will be very careful and delay the launch if we see something that worries us.” Before an event was announced on Twitter Spaces a few days ago that it was delayed.

Starship: Mars mission

“We’ve learned a lot today, now we’re draining the thruster, we’ll try again in a few days,” Musk said in a message posted on Twitter.

About 50 meters high, the ship is considered the most powerful today, as it has a carrying capacity of hundreds of tons – Starship up to 120 meters high with first-stage propellant called Super Heavy. The rocket designed to send manned missions to the Moon and Mars; For example, NASA has chosen the spacecraft as the vehicle for the Artemis 3 mission, which will bring astronauts to the surface of the Moon in 2025.

At the next launch window, if all goes well, the Starship will ascend and descend after nearly a full cycle around Earth until it re-enters the atmosphere. In addition to being extremely fast, the spacecraft is reusable and could be the first vehicle to enable crewed interplanetary travel.
