HP is partnering with System 76 to release a notebook called Dev One for open source developers. The notebook has an AMD processor and runs on Pop!_OS, a Linux distribution. It’s not HP’s first Linux laptop. Consider the ZBook G7, among others.

Pop!_OS is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution with a custom user interface. It also includes tools and features for open source developers, and faster multitasking, among other things. The operating system is free and open source. Built by System76. Until a few years ago users could only use Ubuntu on System76 laptops, but now Pop!_OS is also available.

Dev One has (so far unknown) 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 Pro, 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM and 1TB PCI Express NVME M.2 storage. The 14-inch screen has Full HD resolution. More details have yet to be revealed, but it looks like the laptop will have stereo speakers, a trackpoint, and a dual-microphone webcam. The keyboard has the Super key instead of the Windows key.

More information will follow soon. In any case, the HP Dev One will be priced at $1,099.
