Kevin Smith is a great connoisseur of nerdy productions, but as an excellent director we could say he knows about movies in general, and his opinion on Elvis it was one of the most important. Kevin Smith called Baz Luhrman’s feature film great and also described his mother’s special reaction while watching the film.
Here are Kevin Smith’s words:
My mother cried three times while watching the movie. And it’s weird when you consider that at one point Elvis swings his pelvis for the first time and the girls go crazy. And my mom started crying on that scene, because she said she remembered all this, and it was before she met my dad.
Then the director said:
The movie is great. I don’t know how they told the life of a giant in just two and a half hours, but Baz Luhrman did an amazing job. And Austin Butler manages to be absolutely believable as Elvis. And then this is an expensive movie, they will have spent two hundred million dollars recreating all those fifties environments.
A more than positive assessment, both from Kevin Smith and from the director’s mother. Keep in mind that Elvis hits theaters June 22.
