Variety has exclusively released the news that the streaming platform Disney + will develop a reboot TV series on Eragon. Central to the story are the stories from the saga of children’s novels by Christopher Paolinic.

Writer Christopher Paolini will co-write the TV series himself, while executive producer will be Bert Salke, who will work for the Co-Lab 21 banner, with 20th Television taking care of production.

The story of Eragon tells of a young farmer who one day discovers an egg that, once hatched, will give birth to a dragon named Saphira. With the help of his time, Brom, Eragon will learn how to be a Dragon Knight, an ancient order that was nearly wiped out by the evil Galbatorix. Eragon and Brom will then attempt to defeat Galbatorix and restore freedom to the territory of Alagaësia.

Recall that the novel was published in 2002 and was followed by three other books, published between 2005 and 2011. In 2006, it was made into a movie that grossed about $250 million worldwide. In 2021, the hashtag #EragonRemake went viral, which has become a reality today.
