After the cancellation of the movie batgirl from Warner Bros. Discoverydirector Kevin Smith he decided to speak out and criticized the production company’s decision. According to Smith, the feature film with Laslie Grace would have been a great opportunity.

Here are his words:

I think it’s a wrong view to cancel the movie with a Latin Batgirl. I don’t care if the movie is shit, and I guarantee it isn’t. The directors have already released episodes of Ms. Marvel directed, what a fantastic series. And they had more money to make Batgirl than to make the Ms. make Marvel episodes.

Recall that the film was directed by directors Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi, based on a screenplay written by Christina Hodson (who has already worked on Birds of Prey and the upcoming The Flash). The feature film featured JK Simmons returning as Commissioner James Gordon, Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Brendan Fraser as the villain Firefly and Jacob Scipio in an unnamed role, while the main character was Leslie Grace. The feature would be released on HBO Max.
