On October 21, the appeal procedure in case of Apple vs Epic Games. At the time, the court had agreed with Apple on almost every point and, among other things, rejected the request to integrate the game Fortnite into the AppStore again.

Fortnite is Epic Games’ premier multiplayer game and is played by millions of users around the world, but has been discontinued from the iPhone marketplace since August 2020. The reason? The software house had tried the policy on external paymentsthat allows users to purchase in-game currency without going through Apple’s payment services.

The story had ended in a California court, which found Epic wrong on almost every point except one. But that doesn’t matter, because the software house was also forced to pay the legal costs to Apple, as well as the fines for violating the AppStore policy.

Coming October 21, we’ll start all over again, or almost. The Ninth Court of San Francisco will be called to reconsider the dispute. During the preparatory hearing, both parties will be given 20 minutes to explain their reasons. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Justice and the State of California, as well as an attorney called to represent 35 different states in the U.S., are also expected to speak at the hearing.
