For years, gamers on the PlayStation platform have wanted Sony to release a controller focused on competitive gaming, and their pleas have finally been heard. DualSense Edge has a new button (Fn) that lets you choose between saved profiles, adjust game and chat volume, and set up a new profile. The idea is that players have access to multiple functions without being too distracted, so everything is within the reach of a button.
As a general rule, controllers for gamers have additional buttons for easier access to certain actions, and the DualSense Edge is no exception. We found two buttons at the back and a couple more in an unusual place: the bottom edge, just below the sticks. All of these can be matched to the player’s taste; either replacing existing buttons or creating combinations between them.
Of course, the DualSense Edge includes up to three interchangeable sticks (standard, high dome and low dome) and two sets for rear entrances (half-dome and lever). Now perhaps one of the biggest novelties of the DualSense Edge compared to other options on the market is the ability to replace the entire flash drive module (with everything and its internal components). For what? While Sony doesn’t mention it, it certainly has to do with the turbulent drifting. Instead of replacing the entire controller, only the module needs to be replaced when this fault occurs. Now, in terms of its ergonomics, do not expect new products. Its form factor, apart from additional buttons, is almost the same as the regular DualSense. This is because the PS5 controller was already excellent in this regard, so no changes were required. However, it will be interesting to see how the back buttons feel, because on other controllers they don’t fit all hand types.
