Rostelecom will launch the production of consumer electronics at the Avangard plant in St. Petersburg. There it is planned to “collect a wide range of different devices” with the “widest possible” use of household components. The launch is scheduled for mid-June 2023. This was reported to Vedomosti by the head of the company, Mikhail Oseevsky.

Now Avangard produces a variety of sensors, elevator equipment, power supply equipment, and more.

The company is under sanctions, so it is almost impossible to talk about its competitiveness in the international market, experts say.

For the domestic market, there can be quite competitive products, if in general it is appropriate to talk about competition in the production of microelectronics and electronics on the Russian market, they stressed.

  • In 2022, customs duties on the import of electronics and equipment to Russia fell by 40%. Experts cited the departure of foreign suppliers and the incompletely legal activities of resellers as the main reasons for this drop. Experts expect that if current market conditions persist, customs duties will fall another 40% in 2023.
