Russian Post will test drone delivery of parcels to ports using unmanned aerial vehicles. This was reported in the press service of the operator. The project will be implemented jointly with Rusdronoport.

“This will be the first experience in Russia, but we are sure that drone ports will help reduce waiting times for customers and speed up last-mile delivery,” said Sergey Sergushev, Deputy Director General of Russian Post for Logistics. .

Droneport is a locked, burglar-proof package locker where drones deliver packages. It is equipped with an automatic hatch for receiving shipments, specified the Russian Post. The recipient will be able to collect the packages as in a normal post office.

“Dronoports, drones with a payload of up to 5 kg per 15 km can make it possible to “fit” the market rates for “last mile” delivery in the coming years,” said Nikolay Ryashin, General Director of Rusdronoport. .

Russian Post will test a light version of the droneport with three parcel cells and a heavy version with 8 cells. The maximum weight of a package for delivery to the drone port will be limited to 10 kg.
