Apple announced this Monday (05), during WWDC 2023, WatchOS 10, which will be the biggest operating system update for smartwatches brand. Among the innovations, the software has new watch faces, redesigned apps and a different way of accessing widgets.
The new OS version for the Apple Watch is now available to Apple Developer Program members and will have a public beta release in July. The update will be released for free on Apple Watch 4 and later (iPhone XS or later paired with iOS 17): last quarter of 2023.
With the new watchOS 10, users will be able to turn the crown to access the most used widgets. In this sense, new feature Smart Stack enables this function from Machine Learning which will learn what you usually see on the watch.
“The update offers users the most important information at a glance, simplified navigation, and a new visual language that takes full advantage of the Apple Watch display,” said Alan Dye, vice president of human interface design at Apple.
Another possibility of the Smart Stack is that it allows users to use a different watch face than portraits, while also presenting information such as appointments and temperature in the calendar.
Apple Watch apps like Weather, Messages, World Clock, Stocks, and more are now available takes up more space on the screen. When it comes to Fitness, for example, it’s easier to keep track of movements and daily physical activities, along with more sharing options and a new mug rack.

watchOS 10 will get new watch faces, the first of which is called Palette. The palette theme represents time and uses multiple colors in three overlapping layers as well as changing the composition of the colors according to the change over time.
Second watch face is based on Snoopy and a tribute to the Apple Watch’s 10th anniversary. Peanuts comic characters can interact and play with the scorpions of the watch, in addition to reacting to weather conditions and becoming active based on the wearer’s physical activity.
