The results of a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine showed that just three simple activities can protect against type 2 diabetes. These are gardening, dancing and walking. And they reduce the risk of developing diabetes by three-quarters.

The team of scientists found that people who devoted more than 1 hour a day to high- or moderate-intensity activities reduced their risk of developing diabetes by 74%. What’s more, even among those who are genetically predisposed to diabetes, the likelihood of developing diabetes is reduced.

During the study, experts analyzed data from 59,325 adults from the British Biobank. The results showed that moderate to high-intensity physical activity had a particularly strong effect on reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
