I watched a new Russian disaster film “Bullfinch”. He could easily qualify for an Oscar.

This week, the drama “Bullfinch”, a new project by Boris Khlebnikov, was released in Russian cinemas, which is in danger of becoming the main film of the year.

The picture opened the 45th Moscow International Film Festival and made a strong impression on most film critics. This film is a disaster, in which there was a place for social drama, reasoning on the topic of split thoughts and excellent acting. A movie not to be missed.

This is a film in three genres at once

What is the movie about: The story tells of two young men who find themselves on a fishing trawl. You have to face serious challenges – from the harsh water element to the unfriendly crew of the ship.

If you recall the synopsis of the script, you might think that first of all they are waiting for a clash between the elements and people, with breaks for the greasy jokes of the ship’s crew. But this film is not about sea romance and adventure.

The original title of the painting was “Three Minutes of Silence”, as the plot is based on the plot of the novel by Georgy Vladimov.

It is a pity that the authors decided to rename the film. According to the PCM agreement, a minute of silence is a specially applied three-minute time intervals during each month for the transmission of radio signals of mood, distress, safety. The perfect description for the dark plot that the script suggests.

History can really be divided into intervals, each of which meets in a new way, reveals manifestations and changes the attitude towards them.

The first forty minutes of the film pass enough gradually in a casual manner. We only follow the young heroes who get acquainted with the crew and life of modern Russian fishermen.

Thanks to the skillful work of the operator, constant participation in a particular event. You are not observing interests from the outside, you literally find yourself in the epicenter of the normal, whether it is the first fishing trip, a friendly and not very dinner in the wardroom, or hard work in the hold of a ship. Immersion in production here is maximum. The love with which the creators approached the detailing of everyday life caused a feeling of deep passion.

that the author decided to show that today’s youth is not ready for serious work capacity, which can be encountered in special professions. At times it looks cute and funny, a kind of comedic adventure of everyday objects on a fishing boat.

Many young viewers will certainly see situations that they themselves have encountered. When an experienced and experienced with a certain amount of sarcasm begins to learn something young and “green”. On the contrary, you are surprised to discover that even in a harsh sea wolf, almost paternal love can take place even for unfamiliar guys. Alexander Robak came here, perhaps, one of the best factions in my career.

And in general, I note that the casting should be said a special thank you – the perfect hit in all the images. Whether it is the completely nameless character Yurik performed by Timbashofei Tribuntsev or the infantile young man Nikita, who was met by the director’s son Makar Khlebnikov. The actors are great at portraying their characters. And with each new scene, the characters become more voluminous and interesting.

By the end of the first hour of accumulation, the harsh history of upbringing dramatically changes its mood. This is not related to any dramatic event. There is just a dialogue going on that fundamentally changes the mood and relationship between the crew and the newcomers. Basically, this scene is key in all action. In fact, this is the very first minute of silence in the protocol.

The authors pit two different generations against each other, which absolutely do not guarantee each other.

Just like frozen in time. I live on a rusted trawler, where the most famous Russian hits of the 90s are still in the captain’s cabin, where in order to solve problems of the catch, it is necessary to break the law again, where there is no place for yourself. There is only observational work as the only way to somehow survive in modern observations. Others live with the flow, do not make long-term plans, and in every possible way show apathy and unwillingness to accept society.

This unwillingness to hear each other and reveal the vacuum between generations will eventually reproduce to drama. The phrase that the sea of ​​mistakes does not forgive mistakes is demonstrated here simply and quickly. And this is the second minute of silence. The event that happened happens unexpectedly. No prior preparation or moral reasoning about fathers and children.

This movie has something for everyone.

The third act is a time-lapse marine adaptation of Cause of the Brave, a film about the exploits of firefighters in Arizona. The storm and the rescue operation that unfolded because of it Unexpected heroism in Russian, ready to risk his own life. Simply because he can, and so it is necessary.

It is in storms that nature is well developed, and the highest degree of growth itself, where the tempered pace of control of a feat, and the young and inexperienced just want to hide in a corner. At the same time, due to tricky plot the first cannot be called a hero, and the second a weak-willed whiner.

The case when there is no correct answer, and everyone chooses the appropriate one for himself.

As a result, the movie turned out to be incredibly exciting.

There are no incredible camera rolls or long scenes shot in one take. But at the same time there is a huge immersion in taste and feeling of mood.

There is almost no action here, but there is an exciting storm scene that looks extremely convincing and dangerous.

There are no actors of the first magnitude, but they all play convincingly. And even some hypertrophied specificity, most likely, goes to the film for use.

Finally, there is no denouement as such, the authors simply discover the routine with which many of us are connected every day. And it is interesting to watch this, these are already a lot of questions for a drama that raises a multi-social modern Russia.
