Twitter is refusing to pay bills for its Google Cloud Platform cloud services system as the contract renewal between the companies expires this month. This can cause an interruption in the work of the trust and security team of the social network.
According to Platformer, even before Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter, the company signed a multi-year contract with Google, which included fighting spam and protecting the account.
The platform hosts some of the services on its servers, others on Amazon and Google cloud platforms. At least since March, according to The Information, the social network has been trying to renew the contract on new terms. At the same time, Amazon warned that it would delay advertising payments due to Twitter’s unpaid bills with Amazon Web Services.
Platformer’s sources do not specify how the conflict with Google will affect the work of the social network’s trust and safety teams.
After Elon Musk took over as CEO of Twitter, the company cut costs significantly and laid off thousands of employees. The billionaire, according to Reuters in November, ordered to cut spending on infrastructure, including cloud services, by $1 billion.
