Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, said that artificial intelligence quickly entered our lives and could replace some professions. He noted that AI is already widely used in retail, IT, finance, logistics and manufacturing. Various organizations use it for tax accounting, document management, demand forecasting, logistics and assortment analysis. Nemkin also stated that experts are investigating which jobs can be replaced by artificial intelligence in the future.

He stressed that programmers, journalists, lawyers, marketers, teachers and financial analysts are at risk. But Nemkin assured that people should not worry, as the results of the AI study always need to be subjected to critical analysis by experts. He also noted that AI has limitations and lacks the ability to showcase human imagination and humor, which can be key to success in some areas.

Nemkin highlighted the usefulness of using artificial intelligence to automate and perform routine tasks, as well as process and predict large volumes of data. It envisions the development of all systems based on artificial intelligence in the foreseeable future. The Russian government plans to significantly increase the integration of artificial intelligence into the country’s economy, and estimates show the possible contribution of this field to GDP by 2025, up to 2%.

Nemkin expressed confidence that the actual figures could be higher than planned, given the rapid development of technology. He concluded by saying that we will follow this development.
