Chinese manufacturer Hisense has become the main contender for the purchase of Bosch factories in the Leningrad region, Kommersant has found. According to sources, the German company launched an “internal tender” at the beginning of the year and named the main applicants for the purchase of capacities.
Negotiations are currently underway to sell two factories for the production of household appliances in Strelna near St. Petersburg. Last summer, Kommersant estimated its cost at 3.8-4.4 billion rubles.
The “internal tender” is reported to have been won by Chinese Hisense, also attended by another Chinese manufacturer, Midea, and a Turkish investor.
Hisense, in turn, is already cooperating with Bosch, the companies are developing joint projects in different countries. Hisense then offered “the most convenient buyback terms if Bosch wants to come back.”
The publication’s source claims that the company has already bought Bosch’s assets. But BSH Home Appliances (owned by BSH HausgerAte GmbH) said the plants are not yet for sale and the company is exploring various sale scenarios.
Bosch suspended production in Russia in March last year. At the time, the company said that contrary to local contractual agreements, Bosch products could be used for non-civil purposes.
Before the entry of the RF Armed Forces into the territory of Ukraine, seven Bosch production plants operated in Russia. Last week, the company’s plant in Samara became the property of FSUE NAMI.
This is not the first production of a foreign company, whose owner is NAMI. Prior to this, the company received capacity from Toyota in St. Petersburg, which left the country.
