Large telecom operators believe that for the stable operation of networks and their increase, it is necessary to increase tariffs by 5% above the offer, Kommersant reports.
Formally, communication tariffs in Russia are not regulated. But last year, the FAS used an operator that raised prices for no more than inflation accumulated since the beginning of the year.
According to TelecomDaily estimates, in the first half of 2022, communication services in Russia rose by an average of 10%. Inflation at the end of 2022 amounted to 11.94%.
Investments of companies in the network are declining due to high credit and social burden.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation reported that the increase in tariffs is possible only if a number of conditions are met: a sharp increase in prices, a gradual increase in prices and the development of statistics.
A MegaFon spokesman added that even if this initiative were adopted, “one of the options cannot raise tariffs higher than justified by current costs,” due to the presence of high competition. [Коммерсантъ]
