Apple cuts Vision Pro headset production plan by 60% – Financial Times

Apple has cut its production plan for mixed reality headsets from 1 million units in the first year to 400,000 units. This was reported by the Financial Times.

Chinese Luxshare is currently the sole assembler for Vision Pro. A source close to the company told the newspaper that the company had a plan to build just 400,000 headsets in its first year after launch.

The two Vision Pro component companies have received a new plan to produce components for 130,000-150,000 headsets, the FT said.

Sources in the newspaper point out that the production of Vision Pro turned out to be too complicated and expensive. Apple announced the price of the headphones at $3.5 thousand, which is more expensive than the originally estimated amount. Vision Pro should go on sale in early 2024.
