Yandex.Music will start verifying music tracks before placing them on the platform; content will be viewed using a hybrid model: first using machine learning technologies and then manually.
“This will allow you to accurately identify adult content, mark it with the appropriate Explicit icon, and protect children in kids mode from such content. The system will also be used to identify content on sensitive topics that may cause listeners discomfort,” the company said in a statement.
After verification, the track can be marked with a special sign that will indicate the age limit. Content of a different nature may be excluded from recommendations or removed from the service.
The director of “Yandex.Music” Alexandra Sagalovich explained the innovation by the daily growth in the amount of content, as well as “responsibility to the audience.”
Copyright holders whose music is found to be in violation of the rules can make changes to the content and reupload it, or challenge the decision. In the future, the service will publicly report on the measures the company has taken “to create a comfortable environment.”
