The Litres e-book and audiobook service has launched the Litres.uz website and a mobile application for the iOS and Android operating systems for residents of Uzbekistan, a representative of the service told RB.RU.
The catalog will have 1,500 titles in Uzbek, as well as books in Russian and other languages.
By the end of this year, the company hopes to increase the range of the service to 4,000 ebooks and audiobooks.
liters currently has contracts with 13 national publishers, including Asaxiy Books, Sharq, Adabiyot and Yangi asr avlodi.
liters General Director Sergey Anuryev predicts that the capacity of the digital book market in the country will be able to reach $4-5 million a year. This will be affected mainly by the large number of publishers that are represented in the market for traditional paper books. There are about 40 of them in Uzbekistan.
In December 2022, the service appeared in Azerbaijan. A few years ago, liters were also present on the Estonian and Polish markets. The online library is currently closed.
