Roskosmos and the Yu.A. Gagarin announced the start of an open selection for the cosmonaut corps, the state corporation said in a statement.
In April, it became known that the government decided to extend the use of the Russian segment of the International Space Station until 2028. In July last year, the head of Roscosmos, in a conversation with Putin, said that Russia would withdraw from the ISS project.
This is the fourth open selection, in which any citizen of Russia under the age of 35 can participate.
Selection criteria:
- age – up to 35 years;
- higher education in flight, engineering or scientific specialties;
- work experience in the specialty of at least three years;
- Mastery of English;
- weight – 50–90 kg;
- height in a standing position – 150-190 cm, in a sitting position – 80-99 cm;
- hip width in sitting position – 41 cm;
- transverse size of the shoulder region – up to 52 cm;
- chest circumference – 94–112 cm;
- the distance between the corners of the armpits is up to 45 cm;
- foot length: up to 29.5 cm (shoe size 46).
It is noted that people with foreign citizenship and residence permits will not pass the selection. A person should also not have chronic diseases, but rather a good physical shape and the necessary level of development of psychological qualities.
Applications and documents will be accepted until October 30, 2023. Based on the results of the competition, candidates who will join the Roscosmos cosmonaut corps will be selected.
In 2012, the state corporation selected eight cosmonaut candidates, eight in 2018 and four in 2021. There are currently 26 people in the cosmonaut corps.
