YouTube users encounter issues with various features of the video platform this Tuesday (12). The complaints, recorded on social networks, as well as on the Downdetector monitoring platform, were confirmed by the company, which says it is already working on fixes.

According to YouTube, the issues affect the platform itself, YouTube TV, Music and Studio across different device types. Users also report that the sidebar (left) for navigation simply goes away. This is where posts, trending videos, shortcuts to history, and buttons for the Discover, Shorts, and Subscriptions tabs are located.

According to Downdetector, the complaints started around 4 pm today, although the volume had subsided in the early evening. YouTube also noted issues that users may notice:

  • Difficulty logging in or switching accounts;

  • Difficulty streaming to TV or using YouTube on consoles;

  • The settings menu may or may not load;

  • Access to the account menu can be blocked;

  • Connection error messages while watching videos.

Despite confirming the issues, YouTube did not say exactly when a fix should be applied. The company also did not report the possible number of users affected by the issue and the causes of the reported malfunctions – although complaints were reported from different countries.
